The first one, is that “the main thing” inside of each basket is a book… of course with some candy sprinkled around on the Easter grass next to the book. Now the funny thing is, our elementary school always has a book fair in the spring. And my kids come home with a long list of books that they would like for me to buy for them from the book fair… and I always say “no… we just had Christmas, your birthday is coming up”… whatever it takes to throw them off the scent of fresh books. And then I go and buy the book from the list that I think is their top pick, and I put it in the Easter basket. And they are surprised. Every time. Hee hee.
The second tradition we always follow with our Easter baskets, is that the Easter Bunny hides them. He leaves a clue right where the kids will find it when they get up, and then that leads to more clues and more running around the house- up and down the stairs and sometimes even outside…. finding more clues and solving more puzzles, until they finally find their baskets. My kids look forward to this scavenger hunt every year. Even the older ones- who know exactly who hid the baskets….
So this year, I got my act together in advance, and created these cute Easter Bunny Note printables….
*Click on the image above to open it and print. You can even upload it to PicMonkey to add your own clues like this….
And then when the kids find their baskets, you can label them with their names using this bunny tag, as I did on my baskets above!
Again, just click to open and then print!
What are your Easter traditions? Do you hide your baskets? What do you stash inside of them? Please leave a comment and share!
