Are your kids unsure as to whether or not to believe in the bearded guy in the red suit anymore? Here are a few ideas that will help you to keep the magic alive at your house just a little bit longer!
Show Them A Photo of Santa in Your House!
There is this awesome website called Capture the Magic, where you can upload a photo of your home (perhaps a picture of your Christmas tree with the presents nestled beneath), select your desired Santa image, and then merge the two to download an image of Santa delivering the goods to your kids! How fantastic is that? The photo above is what it would look like if Santa came to our house…. don't you just love the look of surprise on this face, as if he has been caught in the act? But since we celebrate Christmas morning at Grandma and Grandpa's house, I will need to re-do our photo to show Santa delivering the gifts under their tree. Steve and I plan to set up our camera on a tripod with some sort of wire device (fake) attached to it that we'll explain to the kids is a sensor…. so when Santa steps on the cord, it will “trip the sensor” and take the picture. Then we will delete the picture off of the camera, but have it magically waiting on the color printer at Grandma and Grandpa's for them to discover! I love this idea! (Note: unlike most of the things I share here… this idea is not free. It will set you back $9.95 for 4 prints- but I think it is SO worth it!)
Send your Christmas letter to the North Pole… and get a Reply!
I wish that I had researched this idea a bit earlier… as my kids have been drafting letters to Santa with gift requests even before Thanksgiving! And last Saturday my youngest daughter wrote yet another letter to Santa, stapled it into an envelope format, adorned it with stickers and put it into our mail box (I wonder exactly what our mail man did with it!). But with a little lead-time, a letter can be sent to the following address, and Santa will even write back… complete with an envelope stamped with a special North-Pole postmark! Have Santa Send Your Child A Video Message
Portable North Pole allows you to create a personalized message for your child from Santa! Simply go to the website, enter some information that is specific to your child, and the video can be sent to you via email to be shared with your young one!
There is even an option to have Santa send your child a birthday card… perfect for that child who has a December birthday (as my youngest one does TODAY!)
Track Santa's Progress
We're done this one at our house before… and the kids have loved it! You can track Santa's flight on Christmas Eve using Noradsanta.org. There is even an option to track Santa using Google Earth! How cool is that?
What are you doing this year to keep the magic alive at your house? Elf on a shelf? Ringing sleigh bells outside right before the kids fall asleep? Please leave a comment with your ideas!
