Fun Thing To Do with Kids: Have a “Bring A Friend To Dinner Night”!

by Sharon Rowley Leave a Comment

I love coming up with easy ways to make a day more fun- especially during our DIY Summer Camp at home! And when my kids were younger, “Bring a Friend to Dinner Night” was a huge hit at our house!

This is such an easy thing to do to make your dinner hour a little festive! Announce to your kids that tonight it is "Bring a Friend to Dinner Night", and that their job is to invite one of their favorite stuffed animals to join them at the table!

This is such an easy thing to do to make your dinner hour a little festive! Announce to your kids that tonight it is “Bring a Friend to Dinner Night”, and that their job is to invite one of their favorite stuffed animals to join them at the table!

Once I announce it and send the kids scrambling to their rooms to find the perfect friend, I drag out extra chairs (often folding chairs) to create a spot for each child's stuffed animal.

Sometimes I will set a plate and a fork for each stuffed buddy and divide each child's meal between their own plate and their friend's. (This is on nights when I have a high tolerance for washing twice the number of dishes!)

And of course, a celebration such as this must culminate in a special dessert- so ice cream sundaes…  all around!
