Garages are often used for more than just sheltering our cars at night- they are also the catch-all space for storing kids toys, lawn equipment, tools, camping supplies, and anything else that won't fit inside our homes! And since we often enter our homes via the garage, it would be great if our garages were organized, functional, and pretty, right? Here are 12 organized garage ideas to help you get organized!

Think having an organized garage is just a dream? Since we often enter our homes via the garage, it would be great if our garages were organized, functional, and pretty, right? Here are 12 organized garage ideas!

Organized Garage: Kids Toys

Corral all of the kids' sports balls with one or two hanging mesh bins ( similar to this one This is an affiliate link: MomOf6 earns a commission if you purchase, at no additional cost to you. ). We hung our bins in the space between the two garage doors.

storing scooters in the garage

My husband created designated scooter parking spaces on one wall by mounting pieces of wood on the wall to act as “rails” to hold the scooter handles, and lined them with strips of an old garden hose to create a bumper.

bike parking in the organized garage

We have A LOT of bikes in our family! And if you don't have a way to park them, they end up toppling over on each other. So we purchased bike parking racks This is an affiliate link: MomOf6 earns a commission if you purchase, at no additional cost to you.  which allow us to park two bikes per rack.

Another great way to store a lot of bikes off of the floor is to hang them. (Originally at Good Ideas for You- link no longer active)

Organized Garage: Lawn Equipment

Certainly, items like the lawnmower and leaf blower are going to take up floor space in the garage. But when it comes to items such as shovels and rakes, you want to get as much as you can off the floor and hung onto the walls. (From Ashbee Design)

Organizing Tools in the Garage

Maintaining a home requires tools- smaller ones you can hang on a pegboard wall This is an affiliate link: MomOf6 earns a commission if you purchase, at no additional cost to you.  and larger ones that need a storage spot. My husband lined the back wall of our garage with pegboard. He then created a workbench with storage beneath it.

Thank you! Now I just need some tips on how to best mount/store/organize all my battery powered lawn tools (so they don’t fall and hit a vehicle yet are easily accessible!), as well as the chargers and batteries, and power tools to boot!

I love the way you organized the lawn care tools in your garage. It looks good and is most likely safer because they won’t fall down since they’re attached to the wall.

The idea of placing bicycles and hanging shelves from the ceiling are simply brilliant. It makes a lot of space free. Looks cool.

The way you used the metal shelves was very innovative. Hiding the contents from view was a smart move.

I really like your idea about hanging bikes up in the garage, because there seems to be bikes strewn all throughout the garage and my backyard as they never seem to be put away properly. However, I think that I should get a rack or something to hang them on and make it a rule that all bikes have to be hung up after they are used. I will definitely need to get a rack big enough for six, though.

Hi there. Love how functional your garage is! I am currently working on organizing our barn. My question is, do you remember where you purchased the blue bins under the workbench?? Exactly what I need!

If you mean those small plastic blue bins right under the workbench table- we’ve had ours for years now. But here is something similar I found on Amazon (http://amzn.to/2bbmnzp) (affiliate link).

Awesome advice & pictures. We don’t keep much in our garage as we have another large building my husband keeps things in., so I am very lucky.

Love these ideas! We recently evicted a raccoon from our garage so we’ve cleaned it up and removed much of the extra junk so we now have room for shelves etc. These are great inspiration.

Tackling a garage on Thursday with all of the team from NAPO-CT. We ran a contest in our state and are excited about helping the winner. Garages are so rewarding, aren’t they? Makes you feel great, and frees space to stage stuff if you decide to move inside and clear out more. (visiting from Brag About It)
