You guys know that I am “all about” routines. When you create a daily routine of some sort and stick to it- it becomes a habit. You get to the point that you know longer even have to expend any mental effort- you just do it. Like shampooing and conditioning your hair and washing your bod in the shower. A routine.
But sticking with a good face cleansing and skin-hydrating evening routine has always been a challenge for me. By the time I finally walk into my bedroom at the end of the day- I am exhausted and often collapse on the bed and fall asleep before I get to my evening routine. And as I think back- this failure to keep an evening routine is almost a routine in itself- it started back in the day when I used to lay down with my little ones each night until they fell asleep (and quite often would wake up at midnight in their beds wondering where the heck I was!).
But now that my girls are moving from tweens towards teen-hood, I want to be more of a role model to them (in many areas of course) but also when it comes to skincare. I know that if I help them to establish good routines now they may carry them forward into the rest of their lives.
So we headed over to Target this weekend to stock up on some products to help us get started:
One of my girls is already prone to acne- so I want to make sure that she uses a product that cleanses well while also fighting breakouts. The upside squeeze bottle easily allows her to put a golf-ball-sized dollop in her hand, and the cleanser helps to remove her pore-clogging oils, treat any breakouts she might currently have, as well as helps to prevent future breakouts. It's gentle enough for daily use on all skin types, and is made of a soothing formula with aloe and mint (so it smells pretty good too!).
A nice way of eliminating an extra step at the sink (which is always a plus when you have multiple family members sharing one bathroom!) is to do a quick facial in the shower 1-2 times a week. The steam of the shower along with the cleanser work together to open pores and exfoliate. Especially during this time of year when skin can look dull and tired and a bit dry- this active naturals total soy complex formula helps to even out your skin tone and texture, and the lemon peel extract works to purify your skin. Non comedogenic, hypoallergenic, oil free, and dermatologist tested.
Between the cold windy air outside and the often over-heated indoor air- my skin really dries out during these winter months. So I like to use an additional boost to my daily moisturizer- and this serum contains purified hyaluronic acid which is naturally found in skin and acts as sponge for dry skin, moisturizing with up to 1000x its weight in water for skin that stays smooth all day! Oil free, non-comedogenic formula.
And all new habits deserve a little reward- a little incentive to keep you motivated, right? And for my girls and I- that is lip gloss! We each picked one of these lip shines which come in 8 shades, is non-sticky, and plumps up your lips just a bit making them look smoother! The girls and I love them!
Think you and your girls would love these products too?
