“Subway Art”…. It's all over the decorating blog-o-sphere these days….. and I am head over heels in love with it. It is inspired by vintage subway signs, and if you are not familiar with it, some excellent examples of the “real stuff” can be found at SubwaySigns.
It all started last November when I purchased this “family rules” inspirational subway art sign when it was featured as the daily deal on the website GroopDealz…. and when I saw it featured here at How Does She?, I knew I had to buy it.
I love it because it expresses so many of my own family mantras…. Laugh…. Recycle…. Listen…. Help those around you….. Have patience. And I think it looks beautiful on my nightstand, where I can see it each night before bed.
And from there, my love affair spiraled…. and I became inspired to decorate my home for upcoming holidays using subway art printables that you can download online for free. I ran off and purchased these set of four 11 x14 frames that are matted to hold 8 x 10 pictures, placed them on my mantle, and found these adorable prints to celebrate Valentine's Day:
I found these printables here:
After Valentine's Day passed, I opened up the back of the frames, and changed out the pictures to these for St Patrick's Day:
Gazing at these prints makes me feel so happy…. it's such a cute way to deocrate for the holidays, and I can just keep changing out the pictures inside….. well, I just love it…. and I wanted MORE! So last Sunday, one of my sons and I drove over to Michael's to check out their 40% off frames sale (along with an additional 25% off coupon)… and we found these cute frames that match the wood trim in our kitchen. Of course, I searched and found more printable art to put inside:
*My sincere apologies to the creators of the “Lucky In Love” print (pictured first from the left above), and the “Lucky Charms” print (pictured third from the left above)…. I spent several hours searching the web tonight for the origins of these two pictures, but could not find them. If anyone happens to know where I found them so I can provide a link here, I wold appreciate it!
