8 Year Old Birthday Party Ideas
We have thrown some really fun 8-year-old birthday parties at home over the years! This page is packed with party themes and ideas you can use to make your child's day magical, as well as some tips for planning parties for this age group!

🎈 Usually around age 8 or 9 is when the idea of sleepover parties comes up. We've had some very fun and successful sleepover parties for our kids over the years- but the key is to realize that not every guest is ready to sleepover at a friend's house yet. So be sure to offer an evening pick up time for guests that don't plan to stay over.
⏰ An 8-year-old birthday party should be kept to about 2- 2 1/2 hours long- unless of course it is a sleepover party (in which case I suggest a 6:30 pm drop off, a late pick up of 10:30 pm, and a morning pick up of 9:30 am)
🎂 Speaking of food- if you want to provide a meal for your guests, consider an alternative to pizza (which everybody does!). A pasta bar, a salad bar, or sandwich bar allows guests to fix their plate as they'd like!
🛍 My favorite party favor for kids this age is to take a group photo of the party guests all together and then print and frame the photos to hand out at the end of the party!
🎁 At this age, your 8-year old can either open gifts in front of the party guests and offer the appropriate words of thanks or open them after the party. But either way- it is nice to encourage the art of hand-written thank you notes to be sent after the party!
